Good News at the Stroud Hospitals
Stroud General Hospital X-ray Department and Lift
Work is currently taking place to replace the x-ray equipment in one of the x-ray rooms at Stroud General Hospital. The work should be completed and x-ray and CR readers installed and commissioned by late April allowing this very busy department to provide an even better service.
On March 12th contractors started work on refurbishing the lift in the X-Ray corridor. This should take approx. 6 weeks.

League of Friends Funds New Day Room at
Stroud Maternity Unit

Pregnant women wanting to give birth at Stroud Maternity Unit will soon be able to enjoy upgraded facilities.
The birthing area is receiving an upgrade and a new day room will provide more comfort for those visiting anyone who has given birth. A new entrance is also planned. This is a co-operative project between the League of Friends and NHS Gloucestershire.

Michelle Poole, Head of Midwifery for Gloucestershire Care Services, said: “We are asking for local people to bear with us as we make improvements to local facilities.
All pregnant women looking to use Stroud Maternity Unit will be contacted to inform them if these works will affect them. If they have any queries we would advise them to speak to their midwife".

Help for Partially Sighted People at
Stroud General Hospital
Work has been completed on the main hospital steps to aid partially sighted people by the provision of special ridged slabs at the bottom and top of the steps and also special coloured hand rails. The work at Stroud General is being funded by NHS Gloucestershire.

Work is planned for Weavers Croft

2Gether NHS Foundation Trust, who provide mental health, substance misuse and learning disabilities services in Gloucestershire, are taking forward a major re-development of the Weavers Croft site near Stroud General Hospital.  The architect, Mark Palmer, and 2Gether Service Director, Ted Quinn, set out their plans to a League of Friends meeting.  The proposed development will involve major refurbishment of the existing building, including some new build.  It will create a purpose designed community hub which will include a wide range of facilities for patient consultation and therapy and provide a base for the Trust’s Stroud Locality Community Teams.  The Trust will seek planning permission early in 2010 and hopes to have completed the redevelopment by the spring of 2012.

Sponsor a Hole at the League of Friends Golf Tournament
