The League of Friends cares for:
Stroud General Hospital
Stroud Maternity Hospital
Weavers Croft and Park House
The Health Centre at Beeches Green
Stroud Ambulance Station

Since its formation in 1948 the League has made major contributions to the work of the Stroud Hospitals. Over the past six years since the Stroud General Hospital modernisation scheme began the Friends have made donations to the Stroud Hospitals and the Health Centre totalling £700,000. Of this figure £367,471 was provided for the modernisation alone, with the Friends support being a key factor in enabling the scheme to take place.
The Stroud Hospitals provide a superb environment for the high quality care provided by consultants, doctors, nursing and support staff.

Amongst the equipment recently provided for the Stroud Hospitals has been:

  • Patient transport vehicle
  • Medical grade treadmill for physiotherapy
  • Anaesthetic delivery system
  • Endoscopy equipment and endoscopy printer
  • Blood pressure and temperature monitors
  • Cardio-tocograph machine
  • Computer linked projection equipment for training and research
  • An endoscopic camera system for the E.N.T. department
  • Fibre optic colposcope and gynaecological chair for outpatient clinics
  • Patient monitor for tilt table tests and a laser for the opthalmology department

Together with a large range of smaller pieces of equipment and many amenities to benefit patients enormously.

Friends volunteers run invaluable services at Stroud General Hospital each weekday throughout the year. These are the Outpatient Refreshment Service and the Flower Arranging Guild. A trolley shop serves patients weekly.

The Friends support the fine health care provided in our community through The Health Centre at Beeches Green.

The Friends' contribution is made possible by the extensive support and co-operation the Friends receive from individuals and organisations throughout the community. A real and beneficial difference is made to the Stroud Hospitals, the staff and the patients who receive care there. Please give us your support.
